Just recieved an invite by my dealer to attend the 'official launch' party for MY01.
Its also the dealers 21st birthday, so they are having prize draws (P1 luggage), wine (yumm) a buffet (yumm), a brass band (humm) and Steve Berry (bumm)from Driven as the compare.
They also claim to have the 'all new' 2001 Subaru WRC on show.
Its all a waste of time IMHO as I think Subaru have really shot themselves in the foot this time. They obviously didnt listen to very many UK sources when it came to 'designing' the new car.
And to have the cheek to put the same 50p a shot chocolate discs on this 'new' car, when if they even glanced at their UK warrany claims would have made decent stoppers the first upgrade they made on the MY01.
That's one reason I wont buy the new car. To buy it and know im gonna go through all that crap again. Im on my third set of discs. And I had to pay for the pads.
Reason two is the availability of second hand and new P1's. Insurance quote dependant.
Reason three is that I might consider immediately buying a low mileage UK MY00. My MY99 has over 30,000 miles on it.
Reason four, petrol. I do 30,000 mile a year, all payed out of our gov's personal slush fund, i.e. my sad £16000 wages.
Reason five, insurance. If its slower it should be cheaper to insure, but insurance companies wont give a toss that its poss a refined BM alternative, they will just see it as a newer ram raid mobile.
If they put the MY99 up to group 20 I'm stuffed anyway.
