Default Exporting from the UK to NZ

Has anybody tried doing this, about to start doing the sums to see if it will be cost effective to take my car down there, so any info/links would be of use.

Thanks in advance.

Sell here and buy there. Much less complicated and cheaper.

Unless you have a car which is hard to get over there (eg Lotus Elise), then you are far better off selling up here and buying over there. No worries about import taxes, compliance checks, which bis will go missing on the boat trip over etc.

i dont know if NZ follow the same type of rule as AUS, because they have a car industry to protect, they try and make dutys on all forign cars prohibative and that includes bringing in a car that you own over here, you can get them shipped over for about a grand, then have to pay more tax than the car is worth!

Don't think it's quite that bad, friends of mine shipped over a 206cc before they were available in NZ, and it was worth it for them.

A NZ mate used to come to UK, work all summer and buy a classic - usually an E-Type - to ship home and make quite a few bob. Don't know if rules have changed much (this was some time back).

The rules for importing cars to NZ are quite complicated.
