Default bug eye wrx performance question!!

as some of you may no (due to my recent post) im looking at buying an impreza and i think ive settled on a bug eye wrx! i test drove one yesterday with PPP fitted and although it wasnt mind blowing i was fairly impressed with its performance! now this car was 15 grand and im not going to buy that one but i may have lined my self up a nice standard one!
so my question is if i was to fit an exhaust, filter element and have an ecutech remap what is the likley power output going to be??
and how will this compare to the PPP car i drove??
also the one im looking at is in green what does everone think of this colour??
personally i quite like it as its not as common as silver or WR blue! and should look good with a few carbon fibre goodies!
thanks in advance

Green looks cool

dependent on what exhaust, decat or sports cat etc etc your putting on you could be up to about 270BHPish.

I have an 01 WRX.

I did as above, namely Ecutek Andy F remap and decat centre pipe
~ 273bhp.

Depending on year ppp'd WRX 2.0's are 245bhp or 265bhp (the first ones were 245bhp).

For what it's worth I find my car plenty quick enough as a daily runner ;
it's reponsive, has a good range of torque and it's fun to drive !

Consider supension mods too. At least Whiteline ARB and droplinks (about £145), and possibly Prodrive springs or similar with geometry (£450). I reckon the suspension mods are the most important mod I've done to my car to date.

god dont buy green!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cant stand it and think it looks terrible on all imprezas!!!!

I would say they could do with more power but i would agree with the above, sort the suspension setup out first! they roll like a barge in standard form!!!!!

What year are you looking at ? When you say 'bugeye' it usually refers to 2001/2002 cars for which £15K looks way too much . I guess you're talking blobeye, ie 2003 onwards , in which case if you have a remap , replace the centre cat and add a better filter you should be putting out about the same as a PPP'd car ie around the 260 /265 area . should be able to get it all done for under £700 (£500 for remap, and plenty of 2nd hand Prodrive back boxes on ebay or here). Hope this helps you decide . As far as the colour I used to like the old classic green colour , but not soo keen on the bugeye green I guess the fact that you don't see many around in green speaks for itself I guess, But if it's a good well looked after example and you like the colour don't let other people put you off .

Dave

Always...but like it's been said, once you get one thing uprgraded, then you'll need to strengthen another....then another....and i'm lucky as mine will pull that all day long...
the next stage was the 2.5 bottom end with a 20g turbo and it would have made 400+ all day long also....because I strengthened it properly along the way

and I spent the money getting the best!

I have got pics coming on tonight....haven't shown anyone since it's had the one-off graphics put on it.....

But it's up for sale as i'm getting a new flat

Actually that's a fair point - why not just get an STi if you have that money to spend ?

Doesn't the TV affect power to weight ratio ?

But then with 350 bhp, I reckon you'd be just fine !

well im only 22 and i can get insured for 1 thousand pound in my own name etc etc. on the WRX but its like 1500 on an STI
now it might not sound alot but with all the other bills going out i really could do with saving the money year after year! see i hope it wont be long before im paying under a grand im getting a loan to buy the car and hopefully part exchanging my current car! the one im looking at now means i will only be paying 7500 so i might still be able to afford a social life

Get the STi now or regret later.
It's easy to say you ain't gonna modify. I've lost count of how many people come on SN and say that, only to spend £££'s on the car and forever regret not getting the STi or similar from the outset.
Take a step back and think very carefully before you commit to anything!!!!!

il certainly have a think about it but as it stands you can get a wrx with less than 20 thou on the clock for less than ten grand STI cars are a few grand more! it wouldnt hurt my wallet so much if i say mod mine in a year (1500 pound powerstain upgrade) than it would getting a 14 grand car now!
after all this is a loan and i hate to get my self in to deep
ive had a fairly quick car before but to be honest i just want a nice new reliable car that dosnt cost the earth and can hold its own!
dont get me wrong i would love an sti but i feel im stretching my self as it is!!
i know a car with 60k on the clock would be cool but i want one with less than 20k
