A few general noob Impreza questions!
Hi, just a few basic questions about Imprezas really.
Could anyone tell me what the big differences between the AWD, WRX and STi are?..My knowledge is basically limited to knowing the STi is the higher end of the range, along with the P1 etc.
Just that a friend has a 2000 AWD Impreza Turbo for sale, what's this like compared to say a WRX or STi?.
I really don't know anything about Imprezas , and want to hear it from some people that do!
Cheers.

As briefly as possible, cars from 2000 and before are affectionately known as classics. UK cars were 2000 Turbo's with 208bhp with occasional special editions such as McRae, Terzo, Catalunya, RB5, P1 and a few 22B TypeUK's. Japanese imports (JDM) came in several guises from WRX (240bhp) to STi (280bhp) and then many variants such as Type-R and Type RA which are race prepared with lightened bodies and uprated components. More info HERE.
From 2001 on the new-age design began with the bugeye shape, whereby UK and European cars took on the JDM naming, being WRX and STi, with the addition of some TypeUK badges. JDM cars are still more powerful with better components today.
