Default Forester Courtesy Car. Surprised How Good!

While my Impreza STI was in the garage I was given a Forester for the day. Just the base model (I think) with leather, electric sunroof and heated seats. The dash also looked quite smart with better heating dials. Driving it was better than the Impreza GX I got given the last time! Never saw the appeal of these until now. Very surprised!

After running a WRX 06my for six months as a demonstrator i foolishly thought that anything else than an Impreza would not float my boat. How wrong i was, tommorow after it has been pdi'd i will be running an 07my Forester XTEn. What a sweet bit of kit, with the same 2.5 engine as the WRX mapped for more torque. The way they hold the road is amazing for an SUV and it illustrates the benefit of the boxer engine being situated lower down much more than an Impreza. The interior is much sweeter imho with the great integrated sat nav from the legacy, obviously they do not handle as well as the Impreza due to the raised height and the slightly off road biased standard tyres which a lot of owners change at the point of sale anyways. I have gone for a manual gearbox but i would say slightly more owners go for the auto which has the prodrive sportshift for manual gear selection. I find i can have more fun in the Forester as everyone knows what the WRX will do but one can really shock people at the lights with one of these babies! If you want to go quicker in an SUV then im pretty sure only the Porshe Cayenne Turbo is quicker and slightly more expensive! Even the lower powered 2 litre models are a great drive and when Forester owners come to changing their cars they seem to just get a newer Forester which is the best advert of all. Highly reccomended in my book, anyone would think i was trying to sell them or something!

I would gladly tell you which dealership i own as we are very proud of what we do. I feel i would fall foul of un-solicited advertising (even more!) however, obviously i have enjoyed the use of these vehicles before which gradually switched me on to running one as a daily driver.

Very pleased with my Forester STI. Good to show off to the Beemer bullies and beat 'em.

Fair point, an X5 and a 5 series something or other tried "the kraut get out of my way I own the road" stuff

Both tried that today when I was waiting patiently in the outside lane of the Motorway for the car in front to move back into the middle lane as in up my bottie, mooving from side to side etc. When the car in front moved over, both times they watched as I disappeared.

Not happy Krauts in fact Sour Krauts.

Lots of fun.

Whilst my Sti has been with my dealer this week they gave me a brand new Forrester with Leather trim, heated seats etc..

Very nice indeed and only had 13miles on the clock.

Just not as exciting as my Sti though!!
