No Certificate :(
Had PPP put onto my WRX on Saturday - but the dealer refuses to give me the certificate - stating that he can't give it to me because my car is an import from Cyprus!
Can I demand a certificate, I did pay for one! What do you think?
Mark.

I'd be giving them some abuse over that! What does the certificate actually show, that the PPP was fit by subaru or does it relate to warranty and not invalidating it?

Did you pay the full (ie uk ppp) price..?
If so I'd do my fruit..!
Did they say before hand that there would be any issues being an EU car..? I bet they didn't, waiting instead until they pocketed your £££..?
@rses IMO..!

If he fitted it, it has a Certificate. Demand that he gives you it, or you'll complain to both Subaru and Prodrive.
How are you to prove to a future buyer that PPP has been fitted?
Kick up a stick mate. You need that Certificate

You might want to keep it quiet....I have a fax from subaru cyprus telling me that fitting ppp will invalidate my warranty....if it's not on prodrives database, then cyprus can't check to se if ppp is fitted.

The certificate does say...
Warranty
your Subaru vehicle warranty is unaffected by the installation of this performance package. for full details of your Subaru warranty, please refer to your vehicle service/warranty book.
But as you have an import from Cyprus, you would need to get approval from the Cyprus dealer that your warranty would be unaffected by the ppp. Have you done this? if so then the uk dealer has no reason to hold the certificate.
That's how I understood it.

tell him he must give it to you or you will take him to small claims court. If it invaladates your maltese warrenty it's tough luck as the few pence you have saved may be lost by one dealer trying to take the ****

This was done at CVC in Cardiff! The car is exactly 3 years old, so the warranty has now expired!
I phoned them up last Wednesday, they asked me for the VIN number, and then told me it was an import, but they would still do the prodrive. So they have had exactly £1600 off me. The guy who dealt with the sale phoned me this morning stating that because the car is an import they can not issue me with my certificate.
On Saturday, I asked for it, and he stated he would send it in the post, and changed all that today. I paid for it, so I am going all the way now to get it if I can!
Cheers guys!

Out of interest, If the car is out of Warranty, why made you choose pay the inflated price of the PPP when you could have got more bang for your bucks somewhere like Powerstation etc ???
They should definately give you the certifate though and just cross out the bit about warranty as it doesnt apply if it will make them happy.

I'm thinking of PPPing my EU import WRX too, never thought about the dealer holding onto the certificate. I'll make sure I check they'll provide it before I hand over my dosh. Good luck getting hold of yours though.
Other than that are you pleased with PPP? Is it worth the £££'s??
Cheers

Why do that and risk them refusing to supply. Better to pay and then demand the certificate. The certificate is part of the PPP and you have paid for it. If the fools refuse to supply in some bizarre ****-covering ploy, then write them a seven day letter and then pursue them through the small claims track of the county court.

I am really new to all of this TBH, I looked at the Powerstation web site and it seems that they wanted £1500 - but I don't think that includes VAT!
Have I been stupid?
BTW I am not having a very good day, RAC will no longer insure my car with prodrive, so I had to switch to Admiral - arrgh! so fed up here!

The ppp is an of the shelf map, with centre de-cat and back box as far as performance gains are concerned.
A custom map for your car would be around £650, so with the other grand you could have a full exhaust and intercooler.
Do it all second hand (bar the map) and you could have so much more

I'm not surprised it performs well m8, the ppp on the wrx is a fine bit of kit.
If CVC refuses to give you the cert, then try prodrive direct. They will have your car on record and may be able to help you out with a replacement cert.

I called them 4 months ago and described my mod's. They said that was ok and charged an appropriate premium. Later in another converation I asked them to clarify this and they said that although this meant they would not reject the claim for the vehicle , they would not pay for mods which were damaged in an accident.
In other words, they would not take any account of the mods one way or another. That wasn't much good to me as they accepted that they would not pay for my (subtle) bodykit if it was damaged.
May be a different story in the case of Prodrive mods, which are effectively Subaru recommended as I understand it.

You are correct, some insurers will not replace aftermarket modified parts including Admiral.
These insurers will only replace with genuine parts from the car manufacturer.
But ppp parts are genuine subaru approved dealer fitted parts, a grey area indeed. I would guess that a subaru dealer would use ppp parts and just book them out to the job as subaru parts

OK trying to my homework here, I have paid for an HPI check, and the car has not been imported from Cyprus! The car has one previous owner and was purchased from Tiley Bristol Ltd. So I really do not know what is going on here!
I am hoping that CVC will now give me the certificate!
Well worth £40 to find this out!

They're giving you the run around, checky *******..!
Who told you it was a Cypriot (sp?)/EU car..?
If you look on the prodrive (and Subaru uk iirc) websites, one of the things mentioned about PPP is the certificate. Therefore, if this wasn't mentioned to you before fitting then you have not received what you paid for..!
As said, write to the MD of the dealership (cc Subaru UK/IM) via recorded delivery, stating that if the matter is not resolved within 7 days you will be issuing a claim in the Small Claims Court for the cost of the PPP.
That make the tossers get their fingers out and treating you like a ****..!

This is now becoming a nightmare. CVC have contacted Subaru UK, and they state the car is an import.
DVLA state that it is not an import! Plus Tiley of Bristol state that they don't sell imports.
And mark is starting to feel ripped off at the moment, because CVC should have made me aware that I would not get a certificate if it was an import!
Really don't know what to do next?

There are two things here, one is you really need to identify your cars origins if the UK supplier says he sold the car new and its not an import check the chassis no and other ID to make sure your car is the car it claims to be (not a "ringer"), and if you can prove that it is all "kosher" than that should be sufficient for the Prodrive certificate.
Two is if you fitted the Prodrive to a car which is an import then you should have a receipt for the money you paid this will state on it what you got in exchange for your payment, this will probably be enough for any potential buyer if you accompany that with a letter explaining that the certificate can only be issued to UK supplied cars, as the warranty is no longer an issue then the downside is you having to admit that the car is an import (which you would have to do upon resale or px,) then the Prodrive work will still have a value over one which has not been done.
Dont know if this makes sense, I tend to ramble when I have an idea.
Hope it all works out for you.

Well it seems that CVC Cardiff are correct and it is a Grey Import!
Something does not seem right here because DVLA state it is not an import!
The car was registered in Cyprus in 2003, before the country joined the EU in 2004.
Checked with prodrive, and they will NOT issue me with a cert.
So I guess an apology is needed in terms of CVC in cardiff. They will send me my invoice stating what work was performed on my car!
Mark.
