After being stuck behind a motor home for 40 miles coming out of wales I got the opportunity to overtake on an up hill dual-carriage way, so i come off the roundabout and give it some stick (MY98 turbo). All was fine until i hit 85mph (we were coming home on a private test track) and the car spluttered like it was going to cut out (for about 5 seconds) and then all was fine again. Further on up the test track i tried it again to see if it was ok but it spluttered at 85. I'm not sure if i hit the rev limiter (i never do this) or over boosted because it was dark and my eyes were on the test track and not the rev/boost guage. All boost pipes look ok and the oil and water are fine too. It starts, runs and drives fine at normal speeds.

My question is.... if it overboosted or hit the limiter will this upset the ecu and put it into 'safe mode'? I've took the battery off to reset it but not driven it yet.
