Default Could my ECU be causeing this problem

Had battery dissconnected for a while and when i connected it back up the air box was missing and the car has been left to idle and has been driven up and down the road a few times with the airbox off.

Now i have fitted an induction filter the car hesitates like hell could the ECU have learnt that there was more air comming in (with out the filter) and adjusted for it so now the filter is letting in less air could this be causing the hesitation if you know what i mean lol.

Reset the ECU and let it relearn.

What filter have you put on?

filters aint worth changing unless their dirty. You need to sort out cold air feed as well if going this route. Then you have the expense of remap as well if it is to be done safely. Stick the box back on or has it gone awol.

mot isnt very exhaustive check of car. shove filter on then reset ecu. Only thing this might effect is emissions but ecu should compensate.

Should be fine - it just needed a reset. The MAF sensor on the MY97 car is a tough old beast.

What filter have you got coming? As said, the standard airbox is probably better than an induction kit upto around 340 bhp so if you dont want to go higher than that, and dont want noise maybe just stick with a good panel fitler (K&N) and the airbox.

PS - cant remap a MY97 Eaun, and cold air feed isnt really necessary IMO. Once on the move heat soak isnt really an issue with all the air comin in from the wing.

Given you mentioned you don't have a std airbox available which normaly carry's the maf, do you actualy have a maf installed ? Or do you just mean the lower part of the airbox
