Smile Where can I buy an owners handbook in English, for JDM STi 03?

Is there anywhere in the UK where I can buy an English owners handbook, for a JDM STi 03? I've got the Japanese one!

I was thinking to email or teplephone an Australian or New Zealand Subaru main dealer.

Just To Clarify As Tony says, This is a Uk Owners Wallet Etc, But the difference is Neglible & the Pictures are no where near as Cheesy as the Jap Ones

You cant buy one, simple as that, its a Japanese market car, it only came in Japanese
The aussies/kiwi's dont run JDM cars AFAIK, though they can import them

Tony

I'm pretty sure they do......I'm off to New Zealand in 3 weeks and have a 2003 STi waiting for me at a Subaru dealer in Auckland. The only difference to the standard JDM car is the stereo has been changed as the standard Subaru radio doesn't pick up all NZ channels. (Don't aks me, I know nothing about radios!)

I'm not sure what spec the Aussies have though but I know that they did have some difference with the earlier cars.

I can assure you....the 2003 STi that is sitting in Don Thomson Subaru, Auckland is a NZ New car and has the twin scroll turbo, I believe it's the VF37. It's also got the manual and auto waterspray, the DCCD, the rear wash wipe, the electric folding mirrors, the credit card holder and the suretrac LSD.

I don't know anything about later cars I'm afraid.

Then its been imported, its not an official car, they run the same as us in the UK/Europe, also hence the Japanese domestic market.
Japan still run a 2ltr twin scroll engine, so why is the new car a 2.5 single scroll?

Remember, I'm talking about a 2003 STi here, not a new car.

You're right, it is imported from Japan, by Subaru New Zealand!!

Check out the link and look for the entry for Latest Impreza STi Debuts from 20.01.2003.

Subaru New Zealand - News

It's an official NZ Subaru car, there aren't many around but there are a few.

Here's a quote from the articile

"Only a limited number of the 2003 model Impreza WRX STI have been imported by Subaru of New Zealand"

I've spent the last 6 months looking into this, I've done my homework and know my stuff.

Are you talking about the new cars or the 2003 STi that I'm talking about?

I went to my local Subaru Dealer, he gave me a UK handbook FOC, it's 95% relevant to my JDM.
And as Tony says, I has a quick flick through it and chucked it in the glovebox never to be looked at again.

They have both on sale but only the none twin scroll cars are official market cars, the twin scroll are still JDM only cars so will have been imported unofficially, though it looks as though their dealers are a little more relaxed about selling them

Thanks for all your replies, much appreciated. I've learnt something new today also! I thought Australian and New Zealand cars were JDM spec, but obviously they are not. One of the reasons I wanted the handbook was for the DCCD operation, how it works, etc, and also the handbook would state the type and size of the xenon replacement elements, as and when they would reqiure replacement. I'm also presuming it will state a fuel octane rating, in Subaru's own words, for this type of car.

There are many things a UK handbook would not cover regarding a JDM car.

Dean, if your handbook covers the 03 DCCD JDM, then i'll be interested!

Mike, I was about to email Don Thomson to see if he could get me a handbook.

Tony, as always, many thanks for all you help! My JDM is lovely, i'ts truly unmarked, bar a couple of hairline scratches! It is SOOOO different to a UK car, which i've had 4 of! Are the servicing schedules the same as a UK car?

Glad you like your car
Service intervals are 10000km or 7.5k miles, lots of people do 5k mile intervals though (or 6 months), similar to that of a WR1.

Speak to Alyn as AS Performance; Im sure that he supplies translated owners manual/service books. Dealers wont supply a service book for non-UK cars btw; they ask for the VIN number.....
