Default Dyno Run

Just thought I would post my Dyno graphs from when I had my engine rebuilt around a month ago.

Current Spec: MY03 WRX

STI V8. 2.0L Bottom End
P1 Heads
VF34 Ball Bearing Turbo
Uprated Fuel Pump
STI Pink Injectors
STI Intercooler
Decat Up-pipe (3")
Decat 3" straight through exhaust system (rage) with 4" exit
EcuTEK Remap (Scooby Clinic)

Running at just over 20psi, 300 ft-lbs torque. To say the VF34 is supposed to be a quick spool turbo, as you'll see on the graph, I'm not getting any power until I hit 4,500 rpm..? Is that correct??

What would a TD05 (20g) or even a TD06 do?

Subaru Impreza album | MikeyB | Fotki.com

P.S, the car will do 30mph to 80mph in 5.3 seconds!! Got the video on my mobile, will upload it tomorrow.

Will let you know when i get mine dyno'd!
Mine pulls hard from 4k revs, and possibly starts before that, say around 3500 or 3600 revs.
The VF34 is a quick spool turbo, you are getting slightly confused like i was as to when it actually starts to spool though. When it does, it is quick, its just like me you expect more boost at lower revs, and it just does not happen. But i would expect you to still hit boost at 4k revs with VF34.

30-80 in 5 ain't to shabby so you do have some low down grunt (obviously via speedo, but still an indication). Try 60-100 for a better idea..

Take into account engine may still be a bit tight from rebuild.

Out of interest, was your last turbo a mapped TD04 by any chance..? If so it's no wonder you feel the VF34 feels laggy. Give it a week or to and you'll soon adjust to it..

It was a TD04 but it wasn't mapped, it was pushing 264BHP which wasn't too bad, but did kick-in alot sooner.

I'm not too fussed about the lag as I actually like it. That's why I bought a turbo'd car... Love the kick you get when you hit boost!!

Just wondering though, how different is a VF34 (Quick Spool) compared to a TD05 18g or 20g? Is there a big difference?

It lOOks like you're getting a lot of the power around 3,500.

A 20g (so i've been told), will give 1 bar by about 3,200 and full boost about 3,500. Whereas the 18g is 1 bar at 3,000 and full boost about 3,300

Not sure when i am getting it dyno'd but i will post my results as soon as i get it done. I work silly hours so getting out and about is hard during the day.
My spec is:- MY03 WRX, VF34, ceramic coated headers and up pipe, TSL Thundercat downpipe, decat centre, Ninja BB, 550 injectors, uprated clutch, lightened flywheel, uprated fuel pump from last Tek 3, Samco turbo hoses as WRX ones are ****e for this kinda oomph, and another Tek 3 from Richard Bulmar again.

But like i say, when i get time i will get it on the rolling road.

This actually sums me up too! LOL.
Mine used to be a mapped TD04, and that is why i am feeling the difference, but the more i go out in it then the more i have realised i have just got to adjust my driving to suit the new setup.
Will get on the old strip and try some of the above timing runs.

MaDaSS,

Yeah, i got StopTech front brakes with some new pads in, which i must say are rated at mild track use as well, so they are awesome.
Rear brakes are standard.
My suspension is Eibach spring kit, then i have an ALK, rear camber bolts, quick rack and API's fast road setup for the geometry.
The only thing i need now is more stopping power! Hahahaha.

ignore the graph a bit though, my graphs always show that my car doesnt make much power below 4500 yet its actually making 1 bar by 3100 on the road....

Hmm, you see thats a reality that i forget too. So wrapped up in bloody figures, its how it behaves on the road that counts, so well said Neilo.
I have some BF's coming soon so hopefully when i get them in it will show me in the real world what is actually happening on the road too.

334bhp is pretty good.

Friend of mine is making 353bhp/306lbs on an 02 WRX with a VF34.

Same mods as you but with equal headers and FMIC.

Mapped by Rich @ Powerstation

Just looked at your photo album, some very very nice arty pictures on there.

Top job

I was just thinking the same. What front splitter is that? I was trying to track it down a while back.

Cheers for the compliments!!

The after market front bumper was on the car when I bought it, but it needed some work doing as it wasn't quiet right... took it to a body shop in Halifax and they have done a top job modifying it to my spec... It originally was from Revolution (I think)

Desperatley need the suspension lowering, nevermind the brakes upgrading!!
