Default pleae guys gutted help needed

people i was driving my scoob today to see a mate in hospital, driving at 40mph and hit the potholes ofd all potholes as i didnt see it, it hasa gone a burst my passenger front and rear tyres as well as kurbing my unmarked rims, as you can imagine i am gutted and mighty pi$$ed off witht the council.

is htere anything i can do to get my money back from them?

as surley by law they need to provide safe roads and if a biker would of hit this he would more then likely be in hospital at this point.

aslo i run on goodyear 225/35 rz18's what is a good replacement for these and how much will they cost?

as it is the front and rear and the tyre tread was nearing replacing i guess i will need to do all four? as i thought you could not replace a single tyre on a 4wd car.

and the other where can i get my wheels refurbed and for what cost? i am based in maidenhead in berkshire so does anyone know a good place?

thanks

steve

Take a photograph very quickly of the hole in question, even use some kind of measuring instrument.

Then put it in writting to the council's highway's department involved, including photo's & quote for repair.

In you letter make reference to the danger this could be for others..

they will have to if you can prove you did the damage there! you should only replace the tyres in pairs or 4's on 4WD so better get all 4 done!!!!

b9gly is right - it may take some time but the counsil should pay up for this - as for replacements is you already have F1's i would stick with them - they are the best tyre i have had yet

The council are duty bound to provide a safe and reasonable(leaves doors open) safe carriageway for the public. Contact the council ask for records of complaints about said road and when they are likely to take action in repairing it. If yours is the first complaint it will be tricky, but if they have previous complaints then you are in the door. But remember you are dealin with people who employ 20 people to do 3 persons jobs. So it will be long and annoying, but the law says THE COUNCIL ARE OBLIGED TO DO A JOB/CONTRACT AS PUT OUT, i/e maintain the highway. Get photos and video evidence of other cars going over or having to avoid the pot hole, but make sure you get previous complaints about the road.

I've been using Toyo T1R's. superb grip, wearing well and at around £80 a corner (give or take) reasonable value.

All as above but whn you take the pictures make sure you have a copy of a news paper showing the date on it so they cannot dispute the date it happened, they are well known for filling in the holes after someone reports it and your evidence then disapears.

I've sucessfully claimed of my local council for damage a pot hole caused to my wheel. Even claimed for a full alignment, and they paid that too.
Gather the evidence, take lots of pictures, get the work done you need to do to get your car back on the road, and send them copies of the bills.
Make your claim reasonable though, ie: claiming for 4 brand new tyres when you've only damaged 2 would be taking the ****. The remaining 2 tyres you have could be fitted on the back, and put 2 new ones on the front.
It will take ages though, so be prepared to wait.

I've also successfully claimed on 2 occasions for tyres, wheels refurbished and alignment. Take photos of the damage to the car and also of the pothole....preferably with something to show the scale.

had a similar scenario about 10 years ago. Council tried to blame road contractors and vice versa, although eventually the council paid up. Took a year to the day to get my money though. Important thing, wsas to get photographic evidence of the pothole, as 2 days later it had been filled in.
