Default 330bhp 02 Sti and a M5

I know its another vr's thread, but the boss is getting a 6 month old M5 on Monday and I was just wondering how a 330bhp 02 Sti would fare against it, would he be laughing at me as I disapeared in his rear view mirror?

Very powerful cars, so yes, probably . Also very expensive, so I would hope it was quicker.

i think these r the wrong stats!

these r the old m5

6 months old would make it still the newer model
and i think it could be close upto 70 but after that he will start pulling away...

good luck and keep it off the public streets!!

Oh, got the wrong one. But based on the new stats. I think it would be very close. Funny comment about the i-drive though.

it will absolutely trounce you at motorway speeds and let's face it that's whre you will find most M5s ie blocking lane 3, waiting for you to come up trying to nudge them out of the way, at which point they will drop a couple of cogs leaving you looking like you accelerated backwards

The M5 is massively quick you'd just about stay with it till about 80mph then it would just drive away from you. De-restricted these things do 200mph.

And who can afford to speed on motorways anyway. A roads & all wheel drive, M5 can not use all that power.
Hmmm that would be a fun one to watch. But u can stick to the road far better then he can.

still think there would be probs, besides, how often do you get the chance to open it up on a nice B Road?

I'm far too wary to cain it on roads like this as there always some coffin dodger just around the corner in a Daewoo Matiz doing 30.

In short, the motorway is the 'battle arena' and if some middle exec does you over in his uber wagon then he is going to consider your car slow.

Case in point, how many times have you been caught off boost and off guard by a 320d?

Default M5

Not a chance, like said near from a stand still till 60 mph, after that say goodbye, even on the twisties you will struggle, the m3's are very good never mind the m5's

Edited for accuracy!

As above, doubt there will be much in it to 100, above that speed though, and you'll be eating his dust. A moral victory though, as

1) You can go nearly as fast up to sensible speeds
2) Your car cost a lot less
3) You don't have to drive a BMW if you bodge a launch in one of these the sat nav shouts at you: "NEIN, NEIN, U VILL GO BAK UNT DO IT AGAIN!!!"

Almost 5 litres, v's 2.5 litres ( or 2 litres) looks on paper twice the size and, it should be no contest in favour of Fritz.

By virtue of the fact that Mr Scoob can keep up, ( until whatever speed Fritz disappears) to me, shows what an incredible bit of kit it is.

What about a Litchfield treated Scoob in this scenario?

Got shown the way home on the chesterfield by-pass by a new M5. You will struggle in a straight line.

2.0 WRX with PPP. On the round about very little. Up to the speed limit the M5 was not making loads on me, but was going away. Obviously didn't go past the speed limit. But he very definately did! I reckon after that the gap would have widened PDQ! To answer the first question, you would disappear, but for the £ he paid, I doubt he would be laughing.

Fair point, & like I said, it should be on paper, a David & Goliath thing.

And as you say, what he paid, against what we paid, no contest.

Mr Scooby, pound for pound better value.

Good luck.

To pull awwy from any scooby takes a fast car. I was in my mates sti and he was caning the *** out of it. And we only just pulled away from an rx8 (obvisouly sti quicker on paper). U need a seriously quick car to leave a scoob standing. On the other hand an m5 is a serious fast car.
