I seem to have purchased a bug eyed lemon !!

Not only has a very odd squeak appeared from my engine, but I've also managed to acheive a very deep 1" scratch in the bonnet, as well as a chipped windscreen.

But to top it all off today, My little yellow engine light came on !!

I am not fully sure what this means, so I check the oil, which was ok.

Next I tried an ECU reset, but still no change. The lige reamins solid.

What can it be ??

Anyone elso had this problem ??

I only got the car back from its 1K service 2 weeks ago !!

Please Please help me !!

Take it to a garage... it could be anything. These engine warning lights monitor a lot of sensors.

true it even comes on if it detects a missfire and will tell you what cylinder. as for clearing the memory there are two memorys in the ecu now one is for fault codes and one is for driving characteristics usefull if you buy it second hand get it cleared and it then learns how you drive not how the previous owner used to.

I agree with sKunk. Take it back to the dealer asap (dont touch anything and preferably phone them first for advice on whether it should be driven). If it cant be driven call Subaru assistance and get them to deliver the car to the dealer. That's what your warranty is for and what you paid your money for. Good luck. Jen

If the light is on constantly it's the CAT sensor reporting a problem with emission levels. A decatted exhaust will cause this in a MY01. Have a look in the manual as it goes through all the dashboard warning lights. If you havn't had a decatted exhaust fitted go see your dealer.

I had this light on at similar mileage. It was a faulty cam shaft sensor and was replaced under warranty. Was told that it is a fairly common problem.

Yep get it in and dealer will plug there hardware in and read back the error codes. Ring the dealer first so they can advise you whether to drive it or if you need to have it picked up. If they do tell to drive it in just be sensible and stay off boost.

Thanks for the advice,

Unfortunatly, my handbook is in Flemish !!

Good news though, I started it up this morning, and the light has gone off !!

I've got to pop out in a mo, for a 20 mile round trip.

I will drive slow, until I can speak to the garage tommorrow.

Thanks,

Olly.

Went for my trip,

Light is still off.

Car is running fine.

I guess it is fixed.

Is is still worth getting the garage to look at it ??
