Recommendations for a decent brand of torque wrench?
Want to buy a torque wrench for our god-son who's just starting an apprenticeship. I know Snap-On are the nuts but they are a bit expensive... Any other brands worth considering. Teng, Mac, Draper etc.

Depends on your budget, but the following are all very good makes:-
Facom
Sykes Pickavant
Britool
Snap-On
Mac Tools
Draper
Franklin Tools
All the abve make decent tools, the likes of Mac, Snap-On and Facom are the upper end of the market and as such you will pay for the brand, quality, durability etc.
Sykes, Britool, Draper are probably middle of the road and will serve you well if you intend low to medium usage, i.e. you are not a professional mechanic.
Franklin tools are less well known but you get a lot of tool for the money, they are on a parr with Draper.
Halfords do a good range also but be prepared to pay through the nose.Have a look on the web and also check out your local motor factors, see what they stock and what offers they have on.
What torque range do you need to cover?? It may be that you need a smaller torque wrench in 3/8" drive for smaller applications and then a 1/2" drive one for larger applications that will cover things like wheel nuts, head bolts etc etc.
Hope the above helps.

Teng tools are excellent for the money; Halford 'Professional' tools are made by Teng... As others have sais, Britool are as good as any other manufacturer.
