The last version was a bugeye back in 01-02 and yes, they were only imports.
The model ceased being made after that.
I always thought that wagon sold more than saloons in Japan, so why get rid of the ultimate version?
The Forester STi is a worthwhile alternative to it.

They are all imports yes. There are a few New Age STI 'Wagons (GGBs) but they are few and far between; they were discontinued in Japan after very poor sales. The most prolific models are the V4 and V5 STI; V3s seem to be less common although I dont have the production numbers any more and V6 'Wagons are extremely rare. Version 2 STI 'Wagons were little more than GF8s with standards GC8 WRX running gear fitted (260PS over the original 220PS; TD05 and Z4 ECU) and the original STI 'Wagon is difficult to identify because the 300 built were altered from standard productions models, retaining their WRX Applied Model Numbers. Most original 'STIs' are nothing fo the sort Im afraid.
