Yes, 99RON as stated on Shell website... I haven't noticed much difference but then again I haven't driven it enough since putting in the new improved V-Power...

What does the 'V' stand for...?

I havn't been to the local'ish Shell garage yet.
Is the V power fuel more expensive than the old Optimax? If so, by how much has it differed?
And all this hype on here that it was going to be 100ron or more! pmsl

I'm now sticking wherever possible to Tesco 99 RON, my car seems to like it better than Optimax, and it's cheaper, plus I get points on my clubcard, and every so often they do a scheme whereby if you spend over £50 on groceries instore, you can have 5p a litre off their fuel.

Default My classic seems to like it :)

Only on second tank & I can certainly notice a bit of difference.
My import has only a full decat with no remap so maybe the extra bit of RON is helping.

spoke to a mate who is a tuner and he said that v-power only works well on cold days,if its hot it will run like sh*t.
which it did.

Tesco 99RON is diluted with ethanol to increase the resistance to knock and this lowers the calorific value. People who find it to be 'better' obviously benefit more from the increased advance, than they lose out from its lesser 'bang'.

I think that a non-ethanol mix 99RON fuel will be superior in every respect.

Everytime I go past the local Tesco station there's a huge queue of Taxis and battered old junk all pushing and shoving to the front. I can't be bothered queing for 1/2 hour to save a 20p a tank full so I always end up at the Shell station 1/2 a mile away.

I've noticed that as well - I can usually smell petrol but more noticeable with V-Power...

Agree that Tesco 99RON is definately not as good a fuel... I don't mind paying an extra quid a tank for something that performs better both in terms of power and mpg.
