Default Oil mist

I have been to look at a 55 2.5 XTE Forester with 15k miles. it certainly went well and I am now very tempted but one thing was a bit strange. There was oil mist like in the old days you used to get round a loose fitting oil filler cap. It was on top of the ns cambelt cover, on the metal casting to the rear of the filler cap and slightly on the edge of the big plastic moulding where the AC pipe comes out. If you rubbed your finger on those areas it come off black and very slightly oily.

Any ideas what might be causing this? I havn't seen anything like it on my last 2 Foresters. Is it possible the dipstick might not have been pushed back in properly?

Sounds Dodgy.

Can you get an idependent mechanic to help or post your question on the Foresters European Web Site?
