Windscreen crack
I have just noticed I have a small crack in my windscreen (about 3mm in length) and I was contemplating ringing Autoglass to try there chip repair service. Has anyone had any experience of using these?

no mate there are meant to be as good as new after but if your screen has sufferd years of small micro chips (can only see them in the bright sunlight) you may aswell put a new screen in cost me £110 pound notes fitted the worst quote i had was £600 plus

picked up a big crack in my windscreen recently - now about a foot and a half long and getting longer... getting it replaced shortly. Agree that if it's already taken a battering you may as well get it replaced. Not sure how much it's costing because I am claiming through insurance. If you have full comp you ought to check the situation with your insurer's.

If it's only 3mm and the rest of the screen is fine then yes have a repair carried out. If you still don't like it then change the screen. As long as your fully comp the repair won't cost you anythng so you've got nothing to loose.

Dave's right (as you'd expect !).
Only thing I'd add is that the repair isn't normally completely invisible, so not recommended if the crack is right in the driver's field of view (ie in front of his face).

If you do replace, make sure you get the screen with the visible VIN slot, cus i didnt get one, its pure ****e and i dont know how they get away with supplying ****e.
Whats the point in having a visible VIN when some numpty glass fitter/firm will only fit the 29p replacement with no slot to see the number?
Oh yeah, well clever.
*****.
And no i aint saying what firm it is either.
