I have a wrx 1993 import what is the enigine model number is it a ej20 ???

also is my piston is knockin is it worth just getting another engine block and dropping that in instead off fixing the piston ???

Yes, your block is an EJ20.
I would have a word with David at API with regards to your options
with the piston.
