Default mapping on 97 ron

im hoping to get my newage sti remapped soon but dont have a shell garage local to me for optimax, although i have bp 97 readily available which i use .
will it be worth while remapping the car if i can only put in 97 and would there be a noticeable difference between a car mapped on 97 compared to 98 ie power/torque. thanks.

for 1 ron p[rob not much, but there are additional addatives in optimax that arn't in ultimate. but if you can't get at optimax readily don't put it in specialy, just give you grief trying to get hold later on, just put in the norm fuel you use, WITHOUT any octainbooster

There wont be great deal of difference between 97 and 98 RON,

As long as you have in the tank what you want the car mapped to then the mapper will be able to do it.

Still definitely worth having it mapped though, got to expect 30 odd horsepower over standard no matter what fuel you want to run.

Mine had TSLs 333 remap on Esso 97 for the same reason as you, the nearest shell to me is 15miles round trip and esso 97 is far more common so wont get caught short, trust me it goes like stinky afterwards the ecu will adjust to higher octane anyway so you will gain a small benefit if you can get any, just dont map on higher octane then use lower is the rule.

I had mine mapped on 95ron with booster taking it up to 97ron because my local shell garage is 20miles away, i went for 97ron because if i couldent find a shell garage i could put any super unleaded in, when i get the chance i do fill up with optimax and i think the car pulls better

found it strange how scoobyclinic dont know how the car will remap on 97

On decent fuel we usually see any where between 320 and 340 bhp on the sti 8
what it will do on 97 ron I dont know, but we will give it a shot.
You can allways try an octain booster, carrying a tin in the boot wherever
you may go,
Thankyou for you enquiry,
Cheers
Kev.

Had my WRX mapped by Andy F last week. I had BP Ultimate in the tank and he got the same out of mine as a WRX he had in the previous day which had Optimax !

I don't think there's any difference between the 2 myself.

Mapping a car on Optimax certainly pulls ignition out when you then put BP in afterwards.... I have seen this with my own eyes.

Also.... I pick up more activity (noise) when I have had to put in BP as my car was mapped on Optimax.

Always best to get your car mapped on the juice it will mostly use.

Regards,
Shaun.
