Question Gearbox lock vs. Theft

Following on from the number of nicked cars threads...

Anyone know of a Scoob that has been stolen whilst locked in gear with one of the barrel locks that goes into the gear casing?

We've got one that locks in reverse. Obviously, parking into a reverse spot before locking it helps!

I think ours was about £250 fitted, 7 years ago.

I had a dipol fitted on my 03sti when I bought it, and the car is still on my drive.
Surely a thief would take the easy option and go for the car without one?

if a mechanical device is to be fitted then i would be more inclined to go for a disc lock, unless cash is not an issue.

great bit of kit, have one fitted to my my99 classic.

Also (don't know if this is a feature on all classics) when the car is in reverse it wont start, so when the locks on they can't even start the car and drive in reverse just the the hell of it!

Had it on both my Scoobs, superb bit of kit. I've never heard of a car being stolen that had one.

They suggest that you can even get an insurance discount, but I've never succeeded.
