Default PPP ECU and OIL LEVEL QUESTION

Is it better to check the engine oil level when the engine is cold or warm? Also, bit bored today so I lifted the carpet to inspect the ECU ( STI PPP 05). No sign of Prodrive sticker just letters & numbers written in marker pen, is this right? Read somewhere Prodrive fit a re-mapped standard STI ECU. Got a certificate so not worried just curious.

Ideally, check oil when cold. Should be at the top hole.
Was the writing on the ECU itself or the ali. cover that protects it? Mine had a number and my surname writen on it! And yes, it's a mapped std. ECU

i would have thought when cold the oil level would be somewhere between the marks as oil expands alot when hot!

The writing is on the Ecu itself. Its got STI then several numbers in marker pen. Cheers for the reply guys.
