Default Final question beofre taking the plunge

Ok so ive got about 8k buring a hole in my pocket and i really want a classic shape wrx my97 +.

Im sick of people on other forums telling me not to bother as they run out of steam and they are only good for the 0-60 sprint, can someone confirm if this is just a **** and bull scooby hater trying to stick a spanner in the works, persoanlly i cant see a car with 276bhp running out of steam after 60, but hey i might aswell ask as most of you have or previously owned one.

thank you

I don't think the preson commenting on performance past 60 know anything or has ever been in an impreza.

Loada b++++x m8.

If you were to ask a serious question on snet about buying a Corsa you'd get pretty much the same response.

If you wanna know Scooby you need to post on here.
Theres loads of helpful chaps and chapesses

I own an sti type ra impreza and it pulls from 0mph through to above 120mph with no sign of hesitance. However thats what the ra was made for, pure acceleration.

The type ra will not go beyond 125/130mph unlike many other scoobs due to its gearing. A P1 however, along with many others will exceed the 150mph.

But in all fairness why would you want that power on the road (unless its for track use).

They're fast, if you look at a classic sti the 0-100 time is very quick too. They're slightly quicker than the equivalent evo in a straight line (up to about '99), and no one says they're slow.

TBH I actually said I would NEVER buy a scooby as they were way too popular. Then after talking to a dealer about all the Jap import cars available, he made a very good point. They are popular for a reason.....
Think about it, it makes perfect sense!

Hence why I am now a "Scooby Regular" and am selling my 4x4 to join in the fun!!

(Remember though, anything sporty, with a turbo is bound to have problems sooner or later...its to be expected! You can't have a fit girlfriend, and not expect the odd bloke woof whistle at her!!! Just ask my OH!!!! Hee Hee! )

Your pretty much laughing with 8k in your wallet !! I'm hoping to look at a pretty standard '98 for 5k (although its a WRX not STi - purely for insurance reasons & its my first Scooby! )
So yeah, you'll get a gooden with that sorta money!
Good luck with your search!!

just to point out mate for 8k you can look at about a 99/2000 car not 97 depends what you want really sti/uk turbo etc. should be able to pick up a mint uk turbo 99/00 for £7500. tip is hunt around and don't rush and buy the first one you see. (suck eggs grandma)

In your orignial post you mentioned 276bhp, which I take as meaning you want and STi. You won't find one of them for 5k in good condition.

A later wrx produces 276bhp - 97 and newer?

I bought my near standard MY00 Uk Turbo for 5k, albeit with 95k.
