People will always post if something fails but if everything is fine then nothing is posted hence why there SEEM to be so many threads about problems compared to ones that say everything is fine.

ive had 7 impreza's since 1994. Ive also has audi quattros and some big jap sports cars in this time.
I've had 2 problems with the imprezas in that time, one turbo went with only 3000 on the clock (bad turbo). And ive had an ignition coil go on the 94 car. Not too shabby would you say.
The Audi, bag of ****e that was, an S3 as well!!!!

a freind bought my MY98 uk scooby turbo, i sold it with 18000 on the clock, he through another 100,000 on it in 3 years. Only needed new brake disks and pads whilst he had it. And he used it hard!!!!

I've had an MY97 to 92,000 miles and my current MY00 is on 76,000 miles, no problems with either, except a new clutch at 53,000 on the older one. Keep it as standard as possible and it will be bulletproof!

No need to worry, once they fixed the big end failures of the eariler cars in the MY95 and onwards, problems are usually few and far between.....

Personally i hear more of MY99/00 cars with big ebd problems. The earlier cars appear a bit tougher (taking into account age etc).

Thing is they're not cheap to run, but find a car with similar performance that is?
I just don't get it, if you buy a decent BMW / Merc / Audi / VW running costs are all high, be it fuel parts etc?
What do people think when they buy these cars?

Hi,
I thought exactly the same, but after driving around (and still am at present) a 3 litre 4x4, a scooby probably isn't that much different on fuel !
As for the bad threads on here, how boring would it be if everyone wrote:
"car was good today, no problems..."

YOu'll find (which was said to me by a wise man) All the bad things that will go wrong will go within a year of owning one.
So it will be a year of fun but short of cash!
Its the best car ive ever been in or drove!
Mines a MY95 import and the gearbox went after alot of missuse!
No I look after her and give her the care and attention she needs to be a well oiled octane luvin tarmac chewin beast

Welcome to Scoobyship Spank.
All I`ve got to say is, Japanese kow how to make things. Owned Imprezas for 6 years and all I`ve replaced is a bulb in the rear reg plate, oh and tyres.
Don`t worry!!!!
Anthony
All based on personal experience mind you.
