Default Looking at 2003 WRX STi tomorrow

Hi all

Im going to look at the following car tomorrow as advertised on the autotrader:

35,000 miles, 03 reg, metallic silver, mot till may 2007, tax till october 2006, 1 previous owner, full service history, uk spec car, alarm and imobilizer, 18" prodrive alloy wheels, prodrive s/steel exhaust, no aftermarket mods, exallant condition throughout, new baby forces a very very reluctant genuine sale. £12,500

The car is in Derbyshire and was wondering if anyone knows about the car or has seen the car about. Its the first time im buying such a car so Im obviously a bit weary. Does anyone know the model code for an sti (so i can match against the car), and are there any specific things i should look out for?

Any advice would be appreciated.

prodrive pack? or just the exhaust? listen for knocking from the rear suspension. common problem o n blobeye sti's easily fixable under warrenty but expensive without a warrenty. any warrenty left on the 03 your looking at? 12K not a bad price

Both the 18"s and the exhaust are "aftermarket" mods! It came with a standard sti exhaust and 17's orginally. Other than that, I'd make sure there was some warranty left on it. Baby forces sale! why, its got isofix seats in the back, and is a very safe car all round. Can't understand why people put that, unless they can no longer afford to run the car.

Good luck anyway, have a hpi check done, and an independant inspection for peace of mind, if it's the car for you.

Unlikely to have a warranty if it has an mot. Or is there an extended option?

Indeed, not many people extend the warrantee cos it costs a fortune.
As for family forces sale? I bought mine as a family car!

I have a 03sti and to be honest it is a very capable and reliable car, a dam good family saloon that just so happend to be very quick. which is nice

I've only had one warrantee claim and that was rear struts, a very common fault that has been rectified with new design parts. Ask the guy if this has been done. Paperwork for services and any warrantee work is good, and of course a very clean car is always a good sign.

An sti is easy to spot, I dont know what the chassis code should be though.
Large scoop
sti dials
red intake manifold
sti on intercooler
blue seats
blue inserts in door cards
Airbag bit in steering wheel is silver with pink sti logo
intercooler spray button
red suspension struts
gold brembo brake calipers
6 speed gearbox
