Probably due to the launch off the forecourt.

I get a noise on initial start up on my 06Sti but it sounds more like a pump and it only lasts for approx 30 seconds.

I've read that before and actually the idea is not new. A fellow competitor at a sprint meet back in the late '60's used his road going MGB for sprints and hill climbs, and told me he ran it in by driving it fairly gently for 300 miles, change oil and filter, then thrash the thing! He swore it was faster than those of fellow MG owners club members. More recently a guy I know and his mate both bought identical big Suzuki's The guy I knew thrashed his from new, the other guy ran his in as per book. Guess who's was noticably quicker? OK, you may knock a few thousand miles off the potential life of the engine, but you could have a (slightly) quicker car in the mean time!

I've used that method for running in a 2 stroke motocross bike engine 20 years ago so it's nothing new. Would be interesting to hear what scooby engine builders have to say about it.

Bil,

Your not the first to have the gearbox out with noises my mates had his 06STi gearbox done, all bearing replaced and still clunks/grinds now¨

Hope this doesn,t become a MY02 suspension knock type tread

IMHO

YEs it is a MY06 STi type UK
This was BTW apparantly bearing might not fix it. So 3 options really

1) except numerous possible repairs
2) Insist on a replacement Gearbox
3) Reject the Car as a lemon. see C A B
