Default 93 performance

people i need your assistance...

as a few of you may know (if you dont then...) my scoobs a 95 shell basically, with a 93 engine. i would love to find out what the performance figures are for the early wrxs to get an idea of a standard 0-60 time etc. all i can find is performance figures for the later 280ps wrx's and sti's.

if you didnt know my engine is 240ps standard and the transmission/ engine codes are...

ef ty752vb3aa

93 engine standard was 240 ps

95 was 260 standard i believe.

i found a 280 ps wrx will do it in 5 secs off another website

i also found a 240 ps wrx estate will do it in 5.2 off the same site

so

i assume im somewhere in between them depending on weight

The ECU dictates the cars output; not the engine year. Look at the sticker on the ECU and tell me what it says; I'll tell you the cars output. Your car weighs 1220 kilogrammes according to Subaru.

legacy dont have a go ok! i dont know a great deal about cars yet, still learning. i had no idea about ecus until i bought the scoob. never had anything else, and didnt know that ecus control the engine output and a remap ups it.

gc8 i believe it may have been u8 a 240ps one.

so in simple terms for "me" a remap to a higher power rating ecu means the engine will work harder to produce more ps?

If you put back a Z4 which it came with originally; youll be getting about 260PS and this comes as much from its having a far better fuel & ignition map than from increased boost. A Z4 and a decat downpipe will be a good deal better.....

the z4 being the ecu from a 1995 wrx like mine. its confusing lol, makes me wonder how old my car really is!! im sure scoobyclinic would sort me out though, seem good at what they do. £400 i think for a remap, from them for a classic. dunno what power gain would be attained mind, but id like aound 280-300 from the remap and exhaust system.

Read the Applied Model Number off the build plate and I'll tell you. Tags on the seat belt base give a clue too. What ScoobyClinic are offering is similar to ESLs product; but its mapped to suit your car, rather than being a generic map. Its more than £400 though Im sure.... ask Kev for an all-inclusive price including rolling road time.

two good points gc8, never took into account rolling roads. £400 for the remap only.

its no good looking from the build plate, its all too ****, bit suspicious, found out after id bought the car. think its an lx one lol.

Most imports arent registered correctly. Look on the tags on the seatbelt anchors; theyll confim the year and month of manufacture.

If your car is 13 years old, the chances it is making anywhere near it's original output is quite small.

nooooooooooooooooo. i want power, more pwoer i tell you!!! definatley getting a remap!

heres one though, and its going to sound so pathetic, but see it as a concern not a daft question!!!

when i rev my car, say to the redline for a nice burble, i get a puff of smoke from the exhaust, is there any colours to watch out for to signify problems with the engine. a mate of mine had me concerned earlier when warming her up. sounds so stupid i know, as where else is the smoke gonna come from, but what colours are bad!! and possible symptoms.
