Default Afterburner

I was thinking about getting an afterburner exhaust system which i've seen in the scoobyworld online shop, first of all is this any good?

Second i noticed on the picture on the site it seems to hang pretty low and i've got speed ramps on my street, do u think it would catch? has anyone else got one of these and had any issues with scraping on the speed ramps?

Thanks

Joe

Got one on My STi PPP and it sounds the Nuts, it don't really hang much lower than the Prodrive i had on before and i've never had any probs with it hitting speed humps, might well depend on weather your car's lowered.

go for the afterburner, they look good and sound better.

only downside is the price. i got mine off a scoobynetter for 160.00 inc postage so its worth posting in the wanted section, or ebay.
come to think of it i have details of somebody selling one on hear. if your interested pm me and ill give you his user name

I give a thumbs up for the AB.

I've got it, and mine's lowered, not encountered and problems.

I combined it with a Ninja BB. It's loud, especially fully decatted, but the noise when on full boost is perfect!! Sounds so angry.

I would've probably gone for centre resonated if i were to buy again.

i was going to go for the afterburner performance pack that scoobyworld sell which is

1)Afterburner Vortex Ultra-High Performance Rear Silencer (angled exit).
2) Afterburner Centre section
3) Afterburner decat 'Cat' pipe
4) JR Performance Panel filter

How much do u think it would cost me to get this fitted and would any old mechanic be able to do it or do u think i should go somewhere a bit more specialised?

I had the backbox and centre section on an MY03 WRX.

Sounded awsome at tickover
Sounded fecking awesome if giving it some stick

I swapped the BB first, got an increase in responsiveness, and burned less fuel

got the mid pipe, and amplified the noise, whilst smoothing the respose.

replaced the car before I replaced the next bit of pipe!

Well recommended - the centre section is going on my MY06, and I will test the sound against the Prodrive box I got with the PPP.

About the fitting, whats the crack? can any mechanic do a fine job on it or would i need to go to a garage which does more performance type stuff, and what sort of cost do you think?

Depends if the mechanic is any good!
There is no special way to replace the exhaust system, so any good mechanic should be able to do the lot in 3 hours.
Thats how long it took me, and I was taking my time.

Hi mate - Not only have I had 2 Afterburner systems on my previous Imprezas but have also lived on a street with speed humps and never had a problem. I am biased as I work for Scoobyworld but it is a great sounding system!!! With regards to fitting, as you are not fitting the downpipe it should be fairly straight forward as all the flanges can be accessed fairly easily from under the car. I would suggest finding a good garage you can trust, doesn't have to be a performance place just somewhere decent!!

www.scoobybits.co.uk have said they would charge me £20 per hour + v.a.t. to fit a complete exhaust system. i think its gonna be a afterburner downpipe and centre pipe (from the lovely people at scoobyworld - want a discount for that ) and a ninja backbox off a gentleman on here.

the guy emailed me back and said it will be a pay per hour jobby as the downpipe can be a **** to get apparantly. i dont much on exhausts as of yet so will be poping to rotherham to let these guys hopefully furfil my dreams of scaring old ladies and children!!!

Thanks for everyones comments you've been really helpfull

Just one last thing it says on the site for this pack that i'm thinking of getting that it should pass MOT emissions, has anyone else who has this pack passed their MOT emissions because i don't really want to get it if there's a chance that it would fail the MOT emissions, as i dont really know what i'd do if it did fail! would i have to swap a pipe over or something?

If your car is registered as a 'GL' (as many are) and manufactured before August 1995 then it doesnt need a cat to pass an MOT (it only need pass a pre-cat test).

So, its incorrectly described by the DVLA and it was registered (first use) before September 1995. In that case its only required to pass a pre-cat test. Later cars have to pass a cat-test; the CO2 figure is more easily attained than the correct for model one though.
