Default buying a 3k ish early wrx/maybe uk turbo?

is it worth it?

ive been without a car since May as ive fooked about from what car ive wanted to what i actually like. i first set of to get an impreza but couldnt find a nice standard looking example for under 3.5k (that wouldnt cost me another 1k to drive the thing home form england!)

im also not working at present........i can buy a 3-3.5k impreza but i cant afford a 97 uk turbo in blue which id prefer. its just if it blows up and i cant get work soon id be in a world of ****

would it be an unbelievably bad decision to purchase an impreza turbo? id hardly be driving it till i get work as it is.

My first goal after i sold my ibiza cupra was 4 wheel drive and turbo......ive been torn between cav turbos and imprezas but i just know the cavs gonna blow up and 4wd stop working.....

im 22 with 5yrs ncb and stay in a good area but still insurance will be around 1k+?

Anyone got advice on scooby ownership? who owns a 3k impreza?? Help me make a decision cos im ****e at it

thanks

If you havn't got a job, you can't afford a scooby. Don't kid yourself m8, otherwise it will all end in tears.

I think to own any scooby that is out of warranty you need to have available £1.5k at short notice for anything biggish to go (engine/gearbox rebuild or rear diff etc)

I was out of work for nearly 8 months once (early 90's) and its amazing how your money quickly disapears week by week, my advice is dont make ANY mayor purchase until youve been working and feel secure for a month or so.

Cav Turbo will be a lot cheaper if it does blow up though. All you need to worry about with them is the transfer box.

As above, the expensive bit isn't buying the car, it's the running costs.

To run and insure it you will need a job. Maybe consider a cav or calibra turbo, fairly cheap to buy, insure , and run.
I was paying £1850 third party fire and theft when I was 22, looking back I would have waited 12 months
