Default Winding back my speedo clock.

"Apparantly" its done 108k,kilometers,this is about 69kish miles, when i fit the delimiter/miles an hour converter, can i wind the clock back to read in its true mileage ?

its prob been done many times on mine LOL in japan, but might as well get its true miles reading when i do the conversion.

is it possible ?

cheers ears........

P.M.s may be in order to prevent this kind of thing becoming common knowledge though...

Mileage fraud is unheard of in Japan (by the Japanese). In all circumstances its better to complete a simple certificate when you fit the speedo reduction gear. Laminate it and include it with the vehicles other provenance when you sell it.

take it apart and rebuild it, hows that done then, surely all the numbers of the odometer will go twang if i take it all apart ?

on the old metros a drill in reverse would wind it back, but since the little tag has been introduced on the digits to stop them going backwards,im stumped.

i suppose i could just record the km at the time of mileage conversion, but it would be nice to read in its true 69k rather than 109 od Km

cheers.....

mine was a brand new import in 1999

it seems as though it was done until i recently realised how my car would clock up mileage so easily such as doing a mere 1 mile or so and the clock nocking up nearly 2 miles more

i was also confused as to what i can do in order to rectify this without making it look as though something dodgy has been done or the history has been tampered with

These early Imprezas (as are most Jap cars) really easy to alter.......i can de-limit and reset the miles in a few minutes and i'm certainly no mechanic!! Most of my import car customers want them re-calibrated but we don't touch them unless it's actually asked for by the customer. If anyone wants any advice then PM me, i'll send you my number and then talk you through it.
Rig, i think you emailed me on the delimiter subject?? If you want one and are localish to South Wales you are welcome to pop in and we'll fit & recalibrate for free!! Still got that plastic recirc valve i promised you and never sent
Dave.
