Default terzo issue?

hey guys just a quicky, i know the scoob is up for a service in 200miles but a dodgy thing has started to happen, basically the car was warm 82degrees to be precise and i was reversing out the garage i thought i just give it a fairly biggish rev and what happen it started spluttering and missing like one of the breathers was blocked or the sparkers were on their way out, anyway did it again and same thing happend but this time the revs dropped to about 200 and cut out, went to start it and it was like there was no fuel so dabbed the accelerator and it burst to life. anyone any ideas, perosnally i think it needs a service now and not in 200miles, also it has a habit of dropping revs then going back to idle and sometimes cuts out aswell, and the breather filter on the inlet is hissing rather loudly aswell. any ideas

cheers

Yes, but was the MAF repalced at rebuild? What was the cause for the rebuild?
MY97/98 do come with stronger MAF's that the later cars, but that doesn't mean to say that they don't fail at all.

If it happened after about 30 secs, it could be the lambda sensor. They cause these symptoms if they fail. Doubt its the MAF. Is it using more fuel than normal?

Where is the inlet breather you mention?

right its a 98 terzo, with a EJ25 sti lump, running of a GEMs ECU, hayward and scot exhaust jobby, 550cc injectors, water inj, etc etc etc to much to list, apperently theres no MAF as GEMs sorts all that out, and the breather is on the top right of the inlet next to the idle control valve, basically sometimes when your standing still at idle revs drop and she cuts out, then when you try to start her she struggles bigtime unless you hit the accelerator
