How can anyone find that crap funny? It was all totlly fixed. Driving off without caravan attached and reversing into a tent?! As if the cameraman or others wouldnt have said anything. I can imagine them setting it all up, which spoils it.
I am normally a big fan though - jus tthink its lost the plot with that episode.
And the F1 thing smacked of running out of ideas.

Most of it was staged, still funny...Think the bump into the bollard was for real. The look on their faces when they were driving along and then *BANG* followed by May getting stroppy LMAO
By oh look...no supercar reviews - normal cars. A Mundano, Poxhall, a Rice burner and some Korean shopping trolley....isn't that what all the critics were moaning about it not having??

Valid point. However that bump in the petrol station was real and very funny. Re the F1 thing, what did they was going to happen?! Only above a hundred miles an hour do the aerodynamics come in, and enough downforce be generated to enable full power to be deployed.

As soon as the word "caravan" was uttered it was obvious it would all end in either flames or an explosion. Even though most of it was staged, it was funny. Whilst none of them have much knowledge of the workings of cars, it doesn't seem to matter in the general context of the programme, and they compliment each other as characters.

PS Keep meaning to apply for tickets. I wonder what Clarkson would make of the ESC pink shirts?

I found tonights Top Gear one of the best i have seen.
Pi**ing myself laughing during the caravan sequence, even the wife thought it was funny!
No doubt Fifth Gear will do something similar in a couple of weeks
A great insight to the life of owning and towing a caravan
Nik.

I'm a big fan of TG, however this evenings episode was very poor. Most if not all the caravan stuff was scripted and staged (so how was it funny, surely a show like TG can only be funny if REAL stuff is happening?) if it's comedy you want watch something thats deliberately comedic.
I really hope that the rest of the series improves.

But why is it funny to set a caravan alight, if you planned to set the caravan alight?
Comedy is best performed by comedians not Jeremy Clarkson!

Agree, too scripted. It is usually very funny and there were elements of it that were real and thus funny.
The 'real' cars review was a nice change though. But he still has a downer on vectras. It would have been nice to get a proper review of it as I'm curious about it. Look it understears on full lock and full throttle. What did he expect? The lap was supposedly terrible but look at the cars near to it.

Even the stig wasn't driving it properly letting it power understear off. The fact that he drives to illustrate Clarksons view point undermines the credibility of the power laps. I'd be interested to see a proper lap done with it.
I really like top gear but this just makes you think how accurate can it be when they allow the times to reflect their opinions.

Top gear = Burning caravans. May getting, stroppy JC being always right and Hamster with egg on his face.
Like Little Britain = Only Gay in the village & I want "THAT" one. (which I never really found "that" funny either).
Predictability is a qulaity of comedy.
And JC doesn't write the entire script...the "production team" do, then JC waltzes up at the last minute to put some icing on the cake

Agreed predictability is a quality of comedy, but when did TG become a comedy show?
