Default Help: Noises when changing gears

Bugeye 2002

When i change gears and subsequently step on the accelerator i hear a slight, low rasping/scraping sound (almost like a woodsaw). This happens a second or two after i change gears.

It drives fine. Its been doing this for a few days and il be taking it into garage tmrw. Anyone have any ideas to what it could be? Will a scooby garage charge me for diagnosing the fault?
