its fitted (see below) a quick trip to the DIY store stored me with something to block off the intake pipe.

its strange cus it sounds so different on the WRX then on mu last car (mr2 turbo) in the mr2 the noise was long a few seconds, in this its a very short and sharp, it that normal?

also in the mr2 cus there was almost no turbo lag (smaller turbo) it let off all the time, but in the WRX its not until you put ur foot down, i like!

not a technical but hope helps...

the one i used was off my old car, i was told you can use just about any really, the mr2 had to have one with 2 very strong springs, but on the this it did not seem to matter.

the one on ur car is a recirculating one which puts the air back into the intake.

Most aftermarket ones are vented externally and don’t recycle the air given that sound!

You can buy ones which recirculating and vent or just one of the above.

There are one and twin pistons dump values but I was told (don’t know if right) that the WRX can take any of these

here we go: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BLITZ-BOV-BLOW...QQcmdZViewItem

on the my93 which you have on ur car the valve goes where it is on the pic above, its dead simple to fit took me 3 mins. you just have to block off the air pipe but some come with kits to do this, or do what i did and go to a DIY shop and get 22mm blocker (i used a door stop works lol)

yeah i was looking at the blitz and hks ones. expensive but they do the trick. just need to find one for a 93wrx. im assuming they would come with full fitting instructions for the different model years? if i could fit it myself i would get a much better idea of what it does rather then having a garage fit it.

Id disregard that; 'blow off Valve' is as incorrect as 'dump valve'! The correct name for the part is an air-bypass valve.

thanking you for the political correctness gc8 . would you recommend the blitz super sound one aswell if i "just had to have one". i would like one even if there is no point besides a noise, so trying to get the best thing for my car...

Dear Chocolate

Id advise you to retain your standard air-bypass valve.

for what reason? either a standard or aftermarket one, why not really...

a blow-off sends the air flow to the atmosphere instead of back into the intake system, they all do the same job, its just one make a noise there other does not!

a blow-off valve keeps the combustion maintained through the shift, the turbo and the engine keeps their rpm up better, giving a better response after the gear change.

quote:
With a "good" blow-off valve, you should notice that you are not applying as much throttle when you re-engage the clutch after the shift. This shows the engine is keeping the rpms up higher through the shift.

although no bhp gain is really seen my response is alot better.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...%3AUK%3A1&rd=1

ive found this on ebay. the guy says it was off a 94 wrx and would fit mine, but i dunno if it was a vented and or recirclating one like what i need. also is it a decent deal, as i dont wanna pay over the odds for something second hand if i dony buy brand new.

the gentleman in question has just sent me this reply back if it helps...

""Its a vta, single metal piston type, not diaphram like the Baily one that will spilt, there are no instructions but doddle to fit one jublee clip one vac hose,it is in correct working order no leaks and was only removed last week as i have upgraded to a front mount intercooler, and it wouldn't fit the pipe work, so i had to \buy a Turbosmart megasonic twin pistin/port valve, vta do what they say vent to the air, some air is sent back through the vac pipe. hope that answers all your thoughts, if not keep em comming
all the best
Mark.""
