Default Opinions on short shift kits?

Good, bad or don’t even bother? Seen some kits on ebay and i'm wondering if they are a worth while simple upgrade for a MY97 Turbo 2k? They vary in price and seem to be two distinct types:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/97-05-Subaru-I...QQcmdZViewItem

and

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-IMPREZA...QQcmdZViewItem

Would I need any thing else apart from what’s show in the auctions to fit it?

Thanks Scoobynet guru’s

I bought some Strut braces off the guy selling the second item and they were fine. I have a genuine scooby quick shift on mine and it does make a differance. HTH

Thanks, did it make the throw noticeable shorter and does it improve gear changes by much? At problems crawling round town?

Thanks.

I have a quick shift which was on the car when i got it. Big difference between the gear stick travel on a standard car. Not a problem around town. Takes a bit of getting used to at first though, as you expect the gear lever to travel further!

Thanks all, main concern was that they would make the car a dog when not 'making good progress' .
