Bigger Scoop for Bugeye ? Need help !
I got a 51MY Silver WRX Bugeye. I've been tralling the Members Gallery and see theres many different types of Bonnet Scoop. Now I'm not really a big modifying person and prefer to get Subaru parts as opposed to third party stuff, I dont mind some third party parts as long as they really are direct fits, I hate having to modify bits just to get something to fit. Ie, I'm not taking a jigsaw to my bonnet to fit a scoop lol.
Anyway, couple of questions....
* Is the standard Scoop on STI Bugeyes larger than WRX ones and if so, I'm guessing the bonnets are the same so would an STI scoop be a direct fit to my WRX?
* Blob eye scoobies seem to have larger scoops with a bigger lip at the top, would a blob eye scoop fit a bugeye?
* Failing either of the above, anyone recommend any other make scoops for a bugeye?
Picys would be a nice help too if you want guys and gals

Depends on what style scoop you want. You can get STi 8 scoops for bugs (Mrs has just done hers) got it from DR Motorsport £160 painted & delivered, you need to drill the holes in the bottom of the scoop to bolt it on and thats it easy really, well the wife did it so it can't be that hard.
PS as your in Hampshire have you tried www.hampshiresubaru.co.uk ??

Hi mate, I'll be fitting a larger scoop to my bugeye this weekend and I'll post some pics up (hopefully) after its done .
I don't think a blobeye scoop will fit a bugeye. Bugeye STI scoops are slightly larger and it would fit but I went for a larger scoop off flea bay, £60 unpainted from Poland . It was a bit tatty but if you know a good body shop/painter they'll sort it out, suppose you pay for what you get.

The STI scoop will be a direct fir to the WRX bonnet, but ONLY from the bugeye, if like you say you want to remain with SUBARU parts then the blobeye scoops will not fit, you will only be able to get aftermarket ones to fit.

I suppose the other reason I prefer Subaru parts is alot of parts come ready coloured so it really is 'plug and play'. Ive had things sprayed for my cars in the past but its never the same finish, or maybe its just the sprayers I go to but theres nothing better than opening the box, unbolting some stuff and whacking it in. Stand back and admire. Maybe I'm just impatient also lol
Wow, now that I see an STI and WRX scoop next to eachother, I didnt realise the big difference, makes the WRX one look like a paper cut in your hood lol.
Thanks for the photo Nick. (And yes your scoob does look finger licking good)
Love those grey wheels.

I too have a WRX Bugeye and am interested in replacing WRX Scoob with that from an STi Bugeye.
Anyone any ideas where to get hold of these from (obviously they will be available direct from dealers) but was thinking maybe second hand already in correct colour (WR Mica Blue)?
Also, does the STi scoop require the bonnet undertray / scoop (which is also different to take account of the smaller WRX Intercooler) or will this simply bolt directly onto the standard WRX bonnet?

I might be replacing my STI scoop soon for an STI8 replica - Is your car mica blue or wr blue ? (See http://www.wildsworld.co.uk/images/?02STI/20060514/) for pics of wr blue....
Guess that would make one available......

dont go for one of those nasty sti 8 replicas.
they dont suit a bugeye and certainly dont look an original part. stick with the bugeye sti replacement if you need to change.
all imo

As promised mate. Don't listen to bob r, do what YOU want and bolla*ks to those who seem fit to slag others off for their taste, I'm afraid Scoobynet is full of them .

Thanks for the posts guys, I'm still undecided cos I do quite like your scoop Wolfie, looks mean. However an STi one would be pre-painted and easy to fit. We shall see, I'll post picys of my Scoob soon and your'll see what I decided on!
