Yikes. Had a look at a 95 yesterday, "blue recaro trim"??? The seats looked like they'd been borrowed from a nova! Are the 'recaro style' sports seats in the 98 I test drove part of the 97 facelift? Do all the early cars have those nasty seats?
[Ah, ok, read the faq / messages. Guess that's the case]

I have to admit, having driven saabs for as long as I can remember, the scoob interior leaves a bit to be desired; the bucket seats were all that saved it (inside). As for the drive, 'nuff said! :-)

Cheers,
Mark.

Question

Looking to buy a scoob turbo, got a bunch of questions... I'm looking for a 94/95 UK car, completely standard as the insurance is frightening enough already. Probably a 5 door as I sail (lots of kit to cart around)

What should I be looking for?
Does MY94/95 have airbag?
" " Imob / cat1
How do the 5 door's compare to the 4doors to drive - I notice most of the cars here seem to be 4door.

Any hints / tips / advice welcomed!

Thanks.

Check out EVO magazine (December 2000 I think) as they had an excellent article about the pros/cons of buying a used Impreza - I have a copy if you want it photocopied and sent to you via post - email me off bbs if interested!

PS No charge - I am just a bloody nice bloke

I used to have a 4 dr MY95 before replacing it with a MY98 5 dr.

I strongly recommend that you try to get a MY97 or later. Around this time major changes were made to the engine and suspension set-up. The seats were also markedly improved.

For the MY95 (MY94 the same I think):

You get a driver's airbag but no passenger's.

You get an imobiliser (Cobra) which should be Cat 2 but wasn't approved so isn't.

The handling of the 5 dr is at least as good as the 4 dr (some say better in view of the fabled 5 dr rear power distribution bias). In terms of practicality, the 5 dr is great.

I can provide much more info if you wish. Let me know.

D.
