Default hesitation @ 4000rpm

I have a standard spec yr 2000 classic with a Magnex rear box. The car hesitates when accelerating through 4000 rpm, but is fine above and below this level.

I generally use Sainsburys high octane fuel, but ordinary 95 octane, or Optimax make no difference.

Any ideas on how to make it run smoothly?

MAF sensor is most likely. about £80.00. Don't rev it high until it's fixed.
