Default BP ultimate or Shell Optimax

2006 Sti type uk -- i started filling up with ultimate and i found the car to be very fast and very loud and you could really feel the power.

But i put optimax in today and it doesnt sound as powerful . Still quick -- but everything sounds quieter with the optimax

What do u guys use??

optimax 99% of the time. If going for some good fun I put a bottle of millars octane booster in aswell. Main reason for the Millars is on one Rolling road session (on Optimax) was only getting 340 bhp before detonation. Put a bottle of millars in for my last RR session gave 362 bhp so it's worth the £3.99 a bottle in my view.

cheers -- but do you think it really matters whether one uses Optimax or Bp Ultimate

Can we use the new BP Ultimate? It has a ROn of 102

I was just surfing a website, ultimate from BP (the normal one is only 97 ROn) whereas Optimax is closer to 99

Ill stick to Optimax then !

They run an impreza on all 3 fuels and they check torque and BHP. Optimax wins.

I run an import STi and it hates BP ultimate, runs great on optimax. In fact it runs so poorly on BP Ultimate that the last 3 times i have used it my check engine light has come on and it seems to run lumpy!
I wouldnt go anywhere near anything other than optimax unless it was essential to avoid running out.

Absolutely right. I drive an STi and I've only run on Ultimate once and never again. My car just didn't like it. There have been a couple of tests which show Optimax as favourable. Anyway, I've got a sticker inside my petrol flap thats says 98 RON. Optimax it is then.

I've used Optimax for the last year in my Classic but recently tried the Tesco's 99 RON and that was noticeably better and better mpg too.

Wouldn't touch Ultimate.....in fact, after some of the comments i've heard from well respected experts on here, I think I'd rather use coal than BP

Mine gets Optimax always!

I bet before long the insurance companies will be asking you what fuel you use! They tend to charge extra for 15bhp mods!

I run my classic on BP/ARAL Ultimate 100ron and Shell V-Power 100ron and there is next to no difference, but then again I only have 340ps
