Steering rack on MY00 Vs 22B....
#1
Ive had my scoob about a month now, and I love it....BUT....the only thing that bugs me is the amount of turn you have to put on the steering wheel....SO.....
I asked my dealer about it, and he said the 22B has a rack that requires a lot less turning (Probably Group A I spose...), but they dont fit it cause ordinary people would have the car in the hedge trying to use it....
I'm curious to know if anyone has done anything about this or knows any more about it.....

Yep, I have a 22 and the steering is fantastic, dealers are talking out their bottoms! LOL
The rack is available fairly readily. Scoobymania advertise it, and IIRC Barrats Motorsport in Kent have also installed them in UK MY00's. I *think* it costs in the region of £1000 though
Also I heard rumours of a company in Sweden that modifies the original MY00 rack to get it quicker, Jerry (secret agent man and his fugly silver 22b wannabee) would be able to give you more info on that.
Cheers

Thanks Chuck!!!
I went to a certain dealer this weekend to test a 22, but the boss had taken it out for the weekend - lucky sod....
I'll give these guys a call and see what the deal is - don't hold out much hope for my warranty after having this done tho...

Chucksters right (which is a bit amazing - he's a beancounting wbanker after all)....there's a turnip company that preps rally cars, and does all sortsa interesting things to our beloved scoobs.
I don't think the steering modification is on exchange basis though...they mod Ure car directly on site.
Lemme know if you'd like some help.

And Charles - bugger off.
My wannabee could kick Ure phatass anyday.

I thought the 22B's rack was the same as an STI's. If so could you not just use a second hand rack from one of those in a UK car? But I guess there must be more to it than that....
