4.5 Kg Alloy Flywheel - yes or no?
Am getting uprated Helix clutch fitted, so do I get lightweight fly wheel or stick to OE one ? Have done a search on forum, but noneone gives a straight answer. Just want to know if it is worth doing or do cons outweigh the pros?
Cheers Ade

i think its worth it, but 4.5k would be too light on a road car imo. there are others who supply 6k ones i believe, it would be best to talk to one of the big tuners (RCMS etc) and see what their response is?

I've got a 4.7 kg one on my type r, didn't know until I changed the engine earlier this year. I carried it over to my new engine and the only downside I've ever noticed is I have to give it absolute death off the line at the drag strip or it bogs down.
I'm afraid I can't give you a before and after comparison but it certainly liked to rev on both motors.

put the 4.5kg on mate, makes the car a lot light to drive, and revs a lot quicker, the only difference is you have to rev it a LITTLE more when you set off, trust me ive had 3 of them on 2 cars

It just makes the throttle response better.

on both of mine launch nicely @ 3500rpm ask anyone that went to sso 1/2/3
you will be ok round town as you dont launch at 7k do you
and on the strip if you need 5krpm + or your bogging down then you need to look at the ecu map not the flywheel

As for my map, I'll raise your comments with Andy F.

I swapped to a Fidanza 4.2KG flywheel and it was a really worthwhile mod for me. The car revs a lot quicker and pulls much more strongly through the gears. It takes a couple of drives to get the launch technique right but it is exactly like getting into an unknown car....you soon learn to compensate. I never have any trouble with bogging down and I use the same method as scooby-si.
