As with all cars it depends on the service history, mileage and condition. Somewhere between £3-6000. Visit the European section in the Forester forum at; http://www.subaruforester.org/

Stb if its standard will have around 240bhp
It will have tints. climate control, folding wing mirrors, as standard
Oct 1998 is when the model change happened, so pre Oct 98 or post?
As with most imports because the service history is harder to check assume it all needs doing, ie cambelt, fluids etc and cat 1 alarm. This affects the price
Plenty of mods with this vehicle, 300bhp is a realistic target, plus the bonus of coming back to it when you leave it, a real street sleeper, without the chav image, just the grumpy old git image.
How much do you want to spend?
If you post in the european section of www.subaruforester.org you should get all the info you need

As a rule, you can always tell when an honest import has had a cambelt changed. The Japanese garage will place a small odometer confirmation sticker on or around the cambelt cover. There will probably be oil change stickers on the edge of the dashboard in the door-shut area too. When stickers like that are missing from a newly imported car you have to ask yourself why that is.....?

It can happen; but seeing as less than one in one thousand cars even have books included at the time of sale, let alone completed; well... draw your own conclusions.....
