Default Acceleration issues!

Hello all,

New to this site as have just bought my first impreza! Have got a MY96 WRX RA STI V Lim (import). Couple of (hopefully)small problems however...

1. When trying to accelerate hard, the power cuts out accompanied by loud exhaust popping which sounds like its coming from the front1

2. When cold, car has no issues at low revs but once its warmed up, get juddery at 2000 and below.

Would appreciate it if anyone knows what could be the cause of these issues. Have it booked into dealers for a 60,000 mile service but want to make sure the right areas are looked at.

Thanks!

With regards to problem 1 does this happen in all gears or only when getting up to high speeds (on private road or track I assume). If so it sounds like the speed limiter is coming in. Problem 2 no real idea to ber honest.

I would leave it to the dealers, if they are worth anything, they will do a full diog and find any faults that the car is showing.

Just make sure you tell them what you have told us.

Are we talking main dealer? If so - are they aware of your ca being an import?

Run the diagnostics yourself and see if youve got any fault codes showing before you take it to a garage.

Question

What fuel are you using?

remember if it's an import it needs to be the high octane jungle juice!

If your still on the original (last owner) tank full it may of just been filled up with the cheapest fuel before selling the car...... or if the cars been standing for some time the fuel may have degraded?

good luck,

Plums.

Thanks for all replies guys. Happens mainly in 2nd upwards. not speed limiter though - not gone near 112mph yet as don't want to kill it! thought it may be overboost - will see what dealer says.
