Gauges Defi , PSI3 etc Newbie help!!
First thing first i have been through all the Faq info and still no answer so here it goes.
Had my impreza about a month now and really want some gauges since adam at scoobyclinic showed me his however.
Defi gauges seem really expensive.
Controller £65 ish
Boost £135 ish
Water £120 ish
Oil £120 ish
Pod £110 ish
I can fit them myself but due to having a limited budget might have to buy them peice by peice!!!
OR
Just looke on psi 3 and i can get one of their fancy new controlerrs for £430 all in.
http://www.psi3.co.uk/index.php?act=...d&productId=36
Help
I know its down to me but other peoples experiences would also help.
Someone with an sti8 selling their defi set up would help more!!!
Thanks
ALSO LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THE LINCOLN LOT SO LONG AS I CAN FIND THE MEETING PLACE!!!

Oil pressure/temperature sensor kit, includes Defi oil pressure sensor, Defi oil temperature sensor, wiring harness, Subaru oil gallery plug adaptor, installation manual and cable ties.
£430.00 + £175.00 all in!
Defi group buy was only £572.32 all in.

i've just picked up a set of 60 mm defi bf's, with a genuine defi centre pod (with knocklink built in) and all sensors in by posting in the wanted section - was also a great price worth a shot

Personally I'd buy a boost guage and put it down by the right hand side of the screen....easy to look at and loads of 52 mm around !!
I'd guess a lot of scoobynet members have something stuck away in their garage....Somewhere under piles of kids stuff I have an autometer newage boost guage etc.....but in PSI.....pants !!
Then look for a LCD SECS second hand to fit into the space where the clock goes !!
Midlife.....

I have both PSi3 data monitor and just bought Defis. I thought of selling the PSi3 but it does give additional interesting info like intake temps etc.. Also the biggest benefit of the PSi3 is it gives you fault codes and you can reset the ECU very easily.
If I had to choose though it would be the defis!

I had a similar dilema a few months back, although the Defi's were out of my price range.
I bought Autogauge Stealth 2's, 1x Oil Temp and 1x Boost (Bar). However I couldn't decide whether I wanted a pillar or centre pod and also didn't have a clue how to fit them.
They sat on top of my wardrobe for a month or so and then I started having CEL problems so I bought a PSI3 Data Monitor for £200 and slotted it straight in under my stereo.
I sold the gauges not long after and even though gauges look better (IMO), the data monitor gives MUCH more information.
I get: Lambda (air/fuel ratio); Boost (Bar or PSI); Oil Pressure (Bar); Intake air temp; Coolant temp; Throttle position; Ignition advance; Knock correction; Injector duration; EGT; RPM's; MPH's.
It allows me to rearrange my favourite parameters on each page and I can set alarms against Boost, Coolant; RPM's and MPH's. I am also able to reset my ECU and view persisitant or temporary fault codes logged by the ECU.
All in all, a top piece of kit and has really put my mind to rest about a few things.
If you're after something to impress your mates (and provide limited but valuable amounts of data), go for the Defi's.
If you're after more info that you can shake a stick at, (plus the ability to read faults and reset the ECU), buy the data monitor.
P.S. IIRC, the ECUTEK data monitor supports map switching on some cars (anyone confirm?)
