Default Question on engine swap asap

Hi Would an engine from a 2000 model uk be ok to fit in a 1997 wrx sti. As i need i new engine could i just swap the turbo and manifolds etc would it be strong enough to cope with the jap ecu map. Also would i need to swap the heads ....... Please reply asap as i have a chance of a low milage engine

Nope.
Phase 2 engine v phase 1, lots of other differences and the chances are it wont even turn over when you put it in there as your ecu isnt compatable.
You want like for like.

Oh i though all the bare block bottom end would fit any providing you use all the original manifolds,flywheel,wiring etc....
