Had my first bit of damage today. crappy pavement/edge of road. mangling my mudflap bracket and pulling away the back bumper on one side. my cars not even got huge flaps and its not lowered!!

anyway having been absolutely p#ssed off im now seeking a screw and plug bit that holds top of bumper on looks a bit like this knackered one....




anyone have one lying around spare? or one to sell for a couple a bob?

 

U can pick up these sort of push fit jobbies in Halfords M8, just take the old one with u to match up the size

 

Been there, done that.

The clips that hold the bumper up are ****, i went down B&Q and got my self a 30mm by 5mm bolt, a couple of big washers 30mm-ish with 5mm hole and a 5mm lock nut.

Nut - Washer - Bumper - Wing - Washer - Nut.


the reason for such a big washer is to hold it back together with no chance of it pulling through. the bits cost a couple of quid and easy to do with two 10mm spanners

 

Be careful though, next time you hit the kerb you will seriously damage your bumper, not just some easy to replace 10p part Weak links in chains are sometimes there for a reason.

 

The curse of rally style mudflaps. I've had a good go at bumper removal using the mudflap method. However, Speedking's right. A nylon plug is easier to replace than having to straighten twisted brackets that bolts have ripped through. I always lower my n/s mirror now, just to be safe!

 

i was thinking that. id rather knacker a plastic plug than bolt it and then rip a hole in the bumper!!

so anyone gont one of these lying around??

 

That clip is serviceable, its only missing one tab

 

To defend my case, the plug wasn't holding the bumper at all.

 

ive tried it but it isnt a great fit. just looking to see if anyone had a perfect condition one!!

I've got a few left, but there only a few pence from a subaru dealer, they have them in stock as well half the time, think i got 20 for a fiver!

 

yeh jd its going in on tuesday for a service anyway so ill get them to do it then i guess! was kinda hoping i could do it myself, save a couple of quid!!
