Line On The Wing Mirror - Whats it for??

just wondering what the line about three quaters of the way out on the wing mirror is for, had a closer look today and it seems to have a different 'zoom' factor on one piece compared to the other.
Can anyone help

I would say it has something to do with the blind spot, as you said it has a different zoom factor.

It's for wide angles, helps you to see more, blind spots etc.. It's on most cars these days.
