Default Brand spankers MY06 STi can PPP be fitted when I pick car up?

Hi Guys,

I'm placing my order for an MY06 STi with PPP in August, for delivery on September 1st on the new plate, and I was wondering if dealers are prepared to fit the PPP when I take delivery of the car, rather than having to wait for the 1,000 mile oil change. Or is this a bad idea as the car should be run in a little before the upgrade?

Cheers,

Paul.

Cheers.....good point about pre-reg, I'm doing a PCP on the STi and I've already got a fairly large discount on list. No reason why I can't do a PCP on a pre-reg car....deal would need to be sweet though

exactly. has been a few discussions on here about the my06 not selling to well, i have only seen 1 on the road and it was a sport wagon. i expect dealers are looking to shift a few but seen as though you aint looking to buy until september they may look on this as you not being totally comitted and you may not be offerd they very best price/deal.

I know what you mean, I'm not sure about the look of the MY06 myself....what were they thinking with that front grille. Still a great car though.

Is it also true that if the PPP is fitted before you techincally take ownership it is classed as factory standard - not modified by yourself and hence should be no extra insurance cost. I went through this with my STI having lowered suspension and pro-drive wheels - if they were on the car from new then no charge, if they were added afterwards I got to pay more!!

When I bought my 06 STi I asked for PPP to be fitted on collection of the car but as there were delays in the availablility of the PPP I ended up waiting until the 1k service.

in a nut shell, NO. PPP is dealer fit not factory fit. it is also fit after registration so therefore is a modded car. some insurance companys like elephant have sti PPP or wrx PPP on there systems so you can insure it but is more expensive. you can blag saying i got free wheels in the deal. usually then insurance dont care but if you went to halfrauds and bought some chrome 24's then they will make you pay more.

I should have been more specific maybe. The lady at Directline told me that if the wheels, tints and lowered springs had been fitted to the car when it was picked up then I would not be charged. If I had them fitted at a later date then I would have to pay a bit extra.

Admiral were the same with me but they did point out that in the event of a claim they would only pay out for standard items, not options.
Nik.
