Default why do hot hatchs try racing scoobys?

I seems every hot hatch i come across (notably saxo's) try to race me? I mean ive only got a standard 95 wrx but its still got a proven 242 bhp! Surely they dont actually think thy're going to win? I had a red vts have a go and after taking a run up got along side until i saw him changed down and said goodbye, then he followed me around for a while..? I fail to see the point! does anyone else experience this?

Why did you "change down and say goodbye" anyway? Did you buy a fast car to enjoy it, or because you have low self-esteem?

think when you were young m8
when you first get you little 1.2 it feels like the best car ever come on give them a break race them but play with them just for fun

and for the other comments what is the point of buying a fast car and going slow all the time all you end up doing is have bad mpg. you have to go fast

Why did you feel that he was "having a go", and why did you feel the need to put him in his place?

RR meant that that was not a lot of bhp.

clio 182 will give a 240 bhp scoob a run for its money, I came up against one in my old wrx and was crawling away from him at a snails pace ,vts should not pose to much problem.

Well he was having a go (at overtaking) and i felt no need to put him in his place. I know its not alot of bhp that was my point. I am wondering why my post seems to have a drawn this kind of response though, is it wrong to enjoy my car?

i agree with ste300 on this one. im not a chav and dont race around with the "maccy d's crew" either. but when there blatently revving the **** off whatever their "chariot" is looking for racing, you can only take so much. maybe 1 in 10 i will react, less if the conditions are dangerous obviously.

the funny thing that gets me is that the drivers sat there with clubland blasting of his 6x9s, seat so for back hes looking upwards and his von chav cap on reckoning he can have everything. just a personal note but round scunny there are far too many of these like around all 3 maccy d's and sometimes its natural too see them scower off when youve left them standing.

i awit the "mature" persons moan regarding my actions

200 BHP in a hatch is merely warm these days, and many of those tune up to 250 BHP for a small amount. Some of them make peak torque at half the RPM a shonky old WRX does...

***** to maturity. I'm no chav, boyracer, etc. But at the end of the day I bought my Subaru for a reason. Performance. Every now and again it's fun to have a play.

i may have misunderstood your post and apolgies if i have, but are you saying its a bad thing to react occasionally when baited by saxo's etc? Its just a bit of harmless fun in my opinion provided its in the right situation. I bought my car to enjoy, if i didnt want to drive it fast id have bought something that didnt drain my bank account so quickly.

A turbo car is never gonna make peak power at low revs, and at the end of the day there are plenty of 10 year old subarus handing these new cars their **** on a plate.

The average old WRX now looks as dodgy as the average Corsa. Subs playing publically, tints, Lexus lights, stupid bodykits, baseball caps, excessive wheel bling with rubbish tyres, inadequate brakes, slammed to ruin the handling, baseball capped "driver" of short stature and poor road manners.

Quick Reply: why do hot hatchs try racing scoobys?
