New Member - 06 STi
Hi Guys,
Just thought i would say 'Hi' , im new to the world of Subarus in the last few days and already i feel welcome with the amount of waves i been getting from other owners.
Here is my new baby - 06 STi (Blobeye)
Im still running it in, i picked it up yesterday and it had 10 miles on the clock... it now has 160
Keeping it below 4000Rpm as instructed and using every gear as much as i can within this to bed things in, im told i need to do this for the first 1000 miles to make it perfect later on in life.
Fuel is a question i have, the Subaru dealer tells me that all Type UK STi cars like mine are mapped to be able to run on 95RON without detination, is this safe? Obviously i will use Optimax as and when i can but am i damaging it by using 95RON? (The fuel cap states 95RON too) With regards to compsumption.. i was expecting it to drink more but its currently done these 160 miles on about 30 litres of fuel which is cool.
I truly love the car, the sound.. the look... the drive... its everything i always wanted and at 23 i feel very lucky to have it.

Welcome...and good purchase....
Funny thing is that when I picked mine up I had unbelievable fuel economy when I drove it home 200 miles.....then it all started going Pete Tong....
Now I have to drive within Optimax distance....
Enjoy the ride. 95 is OK without PPP, but most people will say to use Optimax anyhow...

Great car, mate.
I have a MY05 WRXPPP bought new last year. I know it's not the STi but I drove it for 6 months on 95Ron no problem, then switched to Tesco 99Ron no problem Now slightly better economy and performance. If going on a long journey and need to fill up and no Tesco 99Ron I use Optimax, and again no problem.
Enjoy the car and keep the lead boot in it's box until you have had the 1000 mile service.

Tnx guys.
You can get both shapes with an 06 registration, i personally dont like the new shape as much in the STi variant which is why i went for this instead. The new one seems too much toned down for me.
